Feel free to add lesson ideas to each subject area, or to add a subject area
Most of these ideas involve hiding manipulatives or information inside a cache container, then asking students to find, catalog, and process the information discovered in each cache. This strategy allows teachers in any subject to use Geocaching (not just science or social studies).

    13 Colonies Travel Bug
Follow this travel bug as it makes its way to the original 13 colonies. Click on the Google Earth link
Current GOAL: My goal is to travel to each of the original 13 colonies. Please take pictures and post them on my site, so the fifth graders who own me can see where I've been. I would like to return to the "Techno Tiger Cache" in Greenville, Pennsylvania when my mission is complete.
    About this item:
We are a fifth grade class in Greenville, Pennsylvania studying the thirteen colonies. We would like this travel bug to travel to the following original colonies: Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and Delaware Please take a picture of yourself with the bug before moving it to another colony (state) or closer to its destination. We would like the travel bug to eventually return to its home in Greenville, Pennsylvania
    Techno Tiger Travel Bug
Current GOAL: Techno Tiger would like to travel the world and visit as many zoos as possible. He would also like to eventually see Yellowstone National Park.
    About this item:
Techno Tiger would like to travel the world. If he spends some time with you, try to take him to the zoo. Upload his picture there in front of a tiger's cage or in front of the zoo sign. If you can't make it to a zoo, just move him on so he can travel far and wide. He would love to find his way to Yellowstone National Park to see other wild animals. A fifth grade class in Greenville will be monitoring his adventures.
