Title: Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and Interesting Sites Within the Hollidaysburg Area School District

Grade: 7th

Subject: World History

Rationale: In order to reinforce ancient history concepts, integrate technology, and make connections to modern-day sites, students will complete a series of historical and geographical exercises utilizing GPS technology.

Lesson Objectives:

TLW (The Learner Will) locate puzzle pieces of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World using Battery-powered Garmin eTrex Venture HC GPS receivers.

TLW successfully put the puzzle pieces together in order to "rebuild" the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

TLW carefully view the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World video and complete a chart listing each wonder's location, approximate date, and three interesting facts.

TLW correct his chart using the CNN Destinations Seven Wonders of the Ancient World web page.

TLW create a seven-tab foldable illustrating each wonder and listing each wonder's location, approximate date, and three interesting facts.

TLW use and manage a category on waymarking.com to feature important attractions and sites within the Hollidaysburg Area School District. The sites' photograph and latitude and longitude data will be recorded in addition to historical information.

TLW will reflect upon the entire experience by using www.tigerwires.com/erickson blogging and podcasting features.
